Today, I went straight to Orchard after work to meet up a friend. Drew, got a cool deal from buying Havaianas sandals/slippers, which apparently come with two free movie tickets. We didn’t really plan on what to watch. It was only when we got to Cineleisure that we decided to check out, Confessions of a Shopaholic based on a novel by Sophie Kinsella.
Isla Fisher starred as Rebecca Bloomwood, a bubbly New Yorker who is also a fun-loving girl addicted to shopping that landed her on a credit card debt crisis. She dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine, Allette, but on a twist of fate ended up with a career as an advice columnist for financial magazine, at the same publishing company, which she thinks still may be her ticket to Alette. She then fell in love with his good looking and British accent boss, Hugh Dancy as Luke Brandon, who thinks the debt collector, Robert Stanton as Derek Smeath, is her stalking ex-boyfriend. The movie was overall funny, colorful (literally), romantic, glamorous, interesting and a really feel-good movie to watch.
I’ve learned quite a lot from the movie; that anything green should never be paired with anything yellow, or else…That there is a big difference between cost and worth… That it’s never good to lie, unless you can really pull it off… That Joan Cusack really looks old now, especially in the movie. And lastly, that having 4 different credit cards is really a great convenience... I would’ve wanted to watch the movie over and over again, but then I realized that I was not in the Philippines. Watching the movie again and again would be very expensive here in Singapore, because then it would mean that I will have to pay again. I rate this movie 8.5, 10 being the highest.
